What makes us different than college advisors?
Understanding degree guides and class sign-ups can be daunting for any parent or new college student. You’re faced with hundreds of classes, and have no idea where to start.
While college advisors will certainly give you the basics, the hard truth is, the college has no vested interest in helping you get through as quickly or efficiently as possible. The more classes you take, the more money they make, and in our personal experiences advisors often don’t suggest classes that fulfill multiple requirements, set out schedules more than one term in advance, or tell you which professors are going to grade excessively hard (I’m looking at you, Professor Laufer).
We will use our own personal experiences, as well as extensive research on different majors and programs, to craft 4-year (or 3-year) schedules based on what YOU want out of college, not what the college wants out of you. Based on your major, credits coming into college, and personal goals, we will create a schedule customized to your needs.
Want to graduate quickly to reduce fees and living costs? We’ll craft a schedule that will get you through college as quickly as possible.
Want to enjoy all four years at college while getting extra majors and minors? We’ll find the classes that satisfy basic requirements while going towards majors and minors that will help you land a job in the future.
Want to maximize your GPA for grad or law school admissions? We’ll use our extensive (and I mean extensive, thousands and thousands of spreadsheet rows) list of the grades given out in every class by every different professor in the last 10 years to find the classes that will help increase your GPA, not destroy it.
What we CAN do
Help you pursue extra majors. We will optimize schedules to set students on the path to getting extra majors or minors by finding classes that cover both general requirements (Math, Science, English, Social Sciences, Multicultural requirements, ect.) and classes that are required for majors and minors.
Free up space for electives. If you aren’t determined to pack in extra majors or minors, our service will still help to reduce the number of classes spent on general requirements, letting you take more elective classes that will help you explore your different interests and less classes learning how pre-calculus works.
Reduce the cost and time of college. If you’re set on graduating early, we can get you through college as quickly as possible by making sure you always have the pre-requisite classes you need to start on upper-division classes, you’re taking classes that cover multiple requirements, and you’re taking the optimal number of credits each term. Each term has around $800 in fees (not to mention living costs) so graduating early can be a huge help in reducing the total cost of college.
Make sure you’re taking classes that actually help you graduate. We can make sure you’re not wasting money on classes you don’t need, aren’t going to end up having to take extra classes senior year that put you over the credit requirement, and don’t accidentally take classes that don’t apply to your degree.
Help increase your GPA. We can set you up with classes and professors that have a proven track record of giving out the highest average grades, maximizing your GPA for graduate schools or future job interviews.
What we CAN’T do
(We think it’s best to be honest about our limits)
Guarantee an A. While we can’t guarantee an A, we will set you up with classes and professors who have a history of giving out higher grades. However, college still requires effort and drive on the part of students, regardless of how easy the professors are.
We can’t reduce the minimum amount of tuition you’ll pay (sorry). Most colleges have a minimum credit limit to graduate, and OSU and UO are both 180 credits. HOWEVER, many students end up going over the 180 credit limit because they take the wrong classes their freshman and sophomore years, and then need to take classes that are required for their major senior year that end up putting them over the 180 credit limit. Credits are $238.96 (or $785.89 with out-of-state tuition) each, and most classes are four credits. Every class you don’t need over the 180 credit limit is around $1,000 (or $3,000) you didn’t need to spend.
We can’t predict the future. Universities may or may not offer certain courses certain terms, but we’ll make sure to give you alternate courses you can take in the case that the university isn’t offering a class you need a specific term.
